Hi, I’m Quince.
I am gripped by big questions about how people live and make sense of themselves, others and the world amidst the restless currents of modern life. From this preoccupation flows my occupation as civil servant in the Singapore Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, working on youth development policy, responding to youths’ aspirations and anxieties.
My academic background is in philosophy: specialising in moral, social and political philosophy, as well as logic and formal methods. I received my BA (Hons) in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from King’s College London, where I was elected to the Associateship of King’s College and was the King’s Undergraduate Research Fellow in Bioethics 2024. Later, I received my MA in the Humanities (Philosophy) from the University of Chicago. My bachelor’s and master’s theses were on the basis of obligations surrounding heritage objects and human relationships respectively.
I am also passionate about documentary photography, cultural heritage, urbanism and the greater creative ecosystem (branding, arts, design, media, hospitality, tourism). I was a finalist in the 9th Singapore Young Photographer Award 2024 and was selected for the National Arts Council’s Noise Art Mentorship 2016. I believe in the power of community arts and youth mentorship, and I have led several such initiatives over the years, the latest being Photovoice 10.
